Job Description:
Wabtec is hiring for a Data Scientist / Computer Vision Engineer role on its KinetiX team. The position focuses on building advanced inspection systems using computer vision, image processing, deep learning, and 3D perception. You will develop algorithms for accurate, high-speed detection and measurement of train components using laser and camera-based systems.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in image processing, computer vision, and deep learning.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience with microservices.
- Hands-on experience with libraries/tools such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
- Solid understanding of deep learning techniques and algorithms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred / Good to have:
- Experience with point clouds.
- Knowledge of MLOps and DevOps.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS).
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Develop machine vision systems using Python and PyTorch.
- Build state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms (traditional image processing + deep learning) for accurate measurement and detection of train components using laser and camera systems.
- Optimize algorithms for real-time performance and high-speed processing.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and domain experts to integrate vision solutions into products.
- Conduct research to stay current with advancements in computer vision, deep learning, and image processing.
- Implement advanced AI annotation and active learning pipelines.
- Develop and productionize microservices using container orchestrators and Redis.
