Job Description:

We are seeking highly motivated Data science engineer to be part of Hardware team. Join a great team of engineering professionals who are involved in data analysis for IBM’s chip design team.

Qualifications & Skills :

Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred education : Master’s Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Strong foundation in probability, statistics, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
  • Hands-on experience in creating plots and charts to find out insights, patterns, trends and outliers .
  • Proficiency in Python and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, and matplotlib/plotly.
  • Hnads – on experience in SQL, Statistics, Plotting (python or tools like tableau, powerBI),  ML
  • Experience in collaborating with design and reliability hardware teams.
  • Knowledge of SQL to query large volume of wafer/chip level data and ability to manage large-scale structured/unstructured datasets.
  • Experience in building data pipelines and dashboards for monitoring of test results and performance metrics and communicate findings through clear visualizations, reports, and presentations .
  • Demonstated understanding to connect data insights to yield, defects, and performance factors
  • Knowledge of Machine leaning for yield prediction, defect detection, and performance correlation and yied improevement
  • Proficient analytical skills for problem-solving
  • Excellent team player and good communication skills

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Knowledge in VLSI domain and concepts is an advantage
  • Understand of basic concepts in semiconductor industry and hardware test data analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities : 

  • Conduct data analysis for IBM’s chip design team, focusing on yield prediction, defect detection, and performance correlation.
  • Query large volumes of wafer/chip-level data using SQL and manage large-scale structured/unstructured datasets.
  • Build data pipelines and dashboards to monitor test results and performance metrics.
  • Create plots and charts to identify insights, patterns, trends, and outliers.
  • Apply Machine Learning techniques for yield prediction, defect detection, performance correlation, and yield improvement.
  • Collaborate with design and reliability hardware teams to connect data insights to business impacts like yield and defects.
  • Communicate findings through visualizations, reports, and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Perform hypothesis testing, experimental design, and statistical analysis to solve complex problems.
