Job Description:

Barclays is currently hiring for the position of Junior Teradata/PySpark Developer at their Pune office. This role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to 2 years of experience who are eager to build a career in data engineering and analytics.

As a Junior Teradata/PySpark Developer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining systems that collect, store, process, and analyze data. This includes developing data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and security.

Qualifications & Skills :

• Any Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience is required.
• Experience: 0–2 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or related areas.
• Teradata SQL, awareness of Teradata utilities
• Hive SQL, PySpark, Hadoop ecosystem awareness
• Linux Shell scripting, DTU/MFT/Daffy based file transfer utilities
• Soft skills such as managing stakeholder’s expectations, understanding business requirements and ability to translate it to technical output, data analysis, functional recon and Github etc.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Awareness around Operational Maturity i.e. servicefirst awareness, familiarity with JIRA & DevOps
• Awareness around migration tasks, platform enhancement, resilience tracking tasks
• Experience with KTLO/BAU tasks, governance related activities
• Awareness around Incident and Change management, liaising with team on ETL housekeeping& TWS jobs monitoring, resilience tracking and also on optimization of controls.

Roles and Responsibilities : 

• Develop and maintain data architecture pipelines for durable, complete, and consistent data transfer and processing.
• Design and implement data warehouses and data lakes that handle appropriate data volumes and velocities while adhering to security measures.
• Develop processing and analysis algorithms suitable for the intended data complexity and volumes.
• Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
• Participate in test phases, work towards early resolution of defects, and ensure permanent fixes.
• Liaise effectively with infrastructure, Hadoop admin, and other engineering teams.
• Adhere to Agile methodology and ensure compliance with audit standards.
• Contribute to and utilize best practices and standards, including Barclays Values & Behaviours.
• Execute work requirements as identified in processes and procedures, collaborating with and impacting on the work of closely related teams.
• Check work of colleagues within team to meet internal and stakeholder requirements.
• Provide specialist advice and support pertaining to own work area.
• Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you own or contribute to. Deliver your work and areas of responsibility in line with relevant rules, regulation and codes of conduct.
